Frisco mountain biking with Scott26 June 2009Scott and Jackie visited us a few weeks ago, and now I got the kitchen pass (i.e. Lisa's leave) to visit them for the weekend. I've been wanting to see the bike trails up there, was testing a new mountain bike, and last but not least of course I was looking forward to seeing Scott and Jackie too! Jackie was working so I followed Scott as he showed me a lot of different trails, some scenic and some technical singletrack. Here a few pictures...... |
Skateboard sliding: first attempts13 June 2009This is the safest way to control speed on a skateboard. Since Salida chipsealed most of the streets and there aren't any steep streets anyways, I took the opportunity to practice while in Leadville. So far I haven't really gotten any slides yet, working on the body position and just the general feeling...... |
Paddling Stone Bridge to Salida East30 May 2009Our friends Jackie and Scott (from the Tahiti sailing trip) came to visit us for the weekend. They arrived Friday afternoon, and Scott and I did a roll practice at the local lake. Scott did great, hitting all his rolls -- so we paddled from there to home, and made plans to paddle the following day! Saturday was the river day -- we put on at Stone Bridge for a 10 mile run to town. Squaw Creek and the dam bypass were the biggest whitewater of the day, and the rest of the river was swift-moving and gentle -- perfect for their first day on the water. Lisa did her first solo trip on the Culebra, using a 5 gallon water jug instead of the 200lb me on the bow :)... |
