STORY
Looks like we're going to have a new tradition -- paddling every Friday -- although I'm afraid that with the opening of the ski area things might change... But so far, Brandon and I went paddling again! This time we put on around 1pm, a few hours earlier. It took so long because we ended up taking just my truck, and then I tried to hitchhike back. Got a ride after I ran two of the three miles :) In the meantime, Brandon was hiding from the cold wind. Between the two of us, I think I ended up with the lucky job, I was sweating by the I got back.
At the put-in I gave Brandon a quick lesson in operating the camera, so that he could take some pictures of me as well.
As always, Pine Creek was a hoot! This we knew a bit more to expect, so new lines had to be taken. It's so much fun, I think I would considering carrying the boat back upstream and doing laps on this stretch. Big rocks, 1-3 foot drops, some fun boofs, and even an occasional surf spot.
The Numbers, after the longish flat stretch that separates them from Pine Creek, were a blast as well. Splats and stern squirts were the main recreation here...
I think that it should be pretty clear from the pictures -- we had a great great time. Putting on earlier and wearing neoprene gloves made a huge difference from last week -- at no point was I at the least uncomfortable, so it was just playing in the sun.
The eddy by Endo Rock was a good stage for some cartwheels:
We got to the take-out around 3:30pm, still with plenty of sun and warmth around us. I jogged upstream to get Laika and the truck, hot chocolates at Bongo Billy's Cafe, and back to work!
