Last weekend in April, super low water year, but the Numbers section of the Arkansas River was still excellent! Paddlers: Chris from Salida, Jason from Denver, and myself. Jason was trying out a new boat, XXX, so he put in below the Pine Creek section. I had the chance to run it for the first time, Chris being the pro, and the water being low (in the 200cfs range).

Chris led the Pine Creek section which turned out to be pretty easy -- I guess at these flows only :) The pictures below were taken in the section that's below that rapid.

The Numbers section was very fun -- except for a few shallow spots there was reasonably good play, plenty of stern squirt spots, and a hole in #1 that I got a few cartwheels in. We scouted #5, since I wanted to see what it looked like. Turned out that the line was pretty clear :)

After the Numbers we continued on and paddled the Narrows too. That section was pretty slow, and by now I was a bit chilly (didn't wear a drytop). Jason was, by now very, uncomfortable in the boat he was trying out, so we played just a little bit and headed back.
